Amelia's Puppy Academy proudly offers Puppy School classes in Portishead, North Somerset.

I'm a Practitioner Member of the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC) and have been a Puppy School Associate Tutor since 2020.

I'm now the full Tutor for the local area and currently working towards my Animal Training Instructor (ABTC ATI) qualification. To better support clients, I regularly pursue a wide range of continued professional development, including courses like Puppy Lab (SoCS), Troublesome Teens (Dr. Amber Batson), and Troubleshooting Reinforcement in High-Drive Dogs (Jane Arden).

I’m passionate about helping you and your puppy build a strong, lasting bond from day one with reward-based methods. Having faced the ups and downs of having puppy myself - through behaviours around over-excitement, recall, socialisation, anxiety, reactivity – all whilst navigating a busy family life and I truly understand how game-changing expert support can be.

My journey began as a Puppy School attendee, learning to connect with my sweet and complex Rottweiler. That experience sparked an interest in the theoretical and practical deep-dive into canine behaviour, leading to me shadowing local trainers and behaviourists, eventually earning my Puppy School accreditation and my fascination with all things dog training and behaviour continues!

These days, I share life with my fiancé, lively toddler, and our wonderful teen Stabyhoun (gundog).

Our classes are held on Thursday evenings at Avon Way Hall, Portishead - a lovely space that’s perfect for you and your puppy to learn and grow together.

We keep class sizes small to make sure it feels calm, welcoming, and that everyone gets the personalised support they need.

Our hall has parking onsite and is wheelchair accessible.

Right now, we’re running fun and friendly puppy classes, and we’re excited to be launching adolescent classes very soon!
