Don’t Shoot the Puppy…Unless With a Camera - a day of fun and filming at Puppy School

On a sunny Sunday in April, the scene was set for a truly special event as adorable puppies, their proud owners, local Puppy School tutors and professional videographer Anastasia Jobson came together to capture the heart and soul of Puppy School classes.

The filming not only highlighted the amazing training acheivements of puppies and their families in class, but also the fun and passion that our tutors have running classes. It will be used as part of Puppy School’s recruitment for prospective new tutors looking to become part of the Puppy School family.

We are proud to run our Tutor Training Course each year—an exclusive and comprehensive program designed to equip future tutors with everything they need to launch their own successful puppy classes. With a blend of online learning, video coaching, and in-person practical days with puppies and their owners, the course is built to suit different learning styles and provides the knowledge, skills, and business know-how required to thrive. Accessibility, diversity, and building confidence are key pillars of our training approach.

In order to capture the footage, two sets of ‘mock’ classes were run with local puppies attending, who have all experienced Puppy School classes first hand. Everyone who came along was helped to feel at ease, just as if they were in their own class, and tutors took turns to teach and demonstrate different exercises, coaching owners whilst they practised. It certainly didn’t feel like a filmed session and Anastasia was hardly noticed working busily in the background.

Hosting an event like this was also a brilliant way for the Puppy School community to come together. There were plenty of tail wags, laughs, and great conversations, plus lots of tired (but happy!) pups by the end of it. Many families shared how much they enjoyed being part of the day—and there was even time to relax and enjoy a well-earned tea break afterwards!

Great day catching up with some of our puppy school family, talking all about puppies and getting to watch each other train. Add in getting to play with a bunch of beautiful puppies all day, what more could you want!

Another amazing day with Puppy School. Just another example of the teamwork and energy that make Puppy School what it is today. I feel lucky to be part of such an excellent group of trainers and educators.

It's always fun getting together with the Puppy School family; spending time with like minded people who don't mind spending the whole time talking about dogs! Throw in some cute puppies and what could be better. The video shoot was a good experience, being able to watch how other tutors teach was really interesting and it was good to get some inspiration for my own classes.

  • “The training was invaluable in helping me to ensure Toby developed new skills as he grew into the confident, well behaved pup that he is. The training taught me how to be a successful puppy parent, and we are both looking forward to starting puppy college. ”

  • “Celia clearly has many years of puppy and dog training, handling and behaviour experience. I would definitely recommend her puppy classes to everyone as she covers quite a range of skills, in a relatively small group, which ensures that every participant is given equal time to learn and practice new skills.”
