  • About Tutor
In 2001 – 2003 I studied for my HND in Animal Management, during this time I worked at Woburn Safari Park as part of my work experience then as a member of staff the following year. I was also lucky enough to visit Africa twice, one on safari at the Serengeti and the second time to see Gorilla’s at Bwindi National Park. I moved to Yorkshire for a few years in which time I achieved my degree in Animal Management (BSc).

In 2007 I started working at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which is a registered Assistance Dog charity under ADUK. For the first 5 years I worked in the Welfare team, including as a Team Leader, then moved to the Training team as a Dog Trainer where I work today.

I live in Witney with my partner and 2 dogs. Goldie is my Collie X old faithful who has taught me so much, including years working together on the Demonstration Team for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Our second dog is George who is our Westie X who’s small but has a huge character.

Every role that I’ve worked in has involved working with people and my present job includes working with people with hearing loss to teach them how to work with their new Hearing Dog and start off their partnership together. Additionally to this, over the years I’ve been responsible for training volunteers and staff in various subjects relating to dogs.

I really enjoy working with people and their dogs, so I applied to Puppy School and completed my training for this in 2005. Puppy School is an amazing support network with brilliant people it also continually trains their tutors to keep us up to date with developing techniques.

This works well for me as I love learning and I don’t think you can ever know everything as we are always finding improved ways to work and connect with our canine friends. I know that every dog and person I work with will teach me something new. If I can use my experiences and knowledge to help just one person:dog relationship to enjoy each other a little more, then I’ll be happy with that.
