Puppy School International tutors

Puppy School originally set out to become a UK network of puppy training tutors but since its inception, we have been contacted by many people overseas who are keen to learn the Puppy School techniques, benefit from the forum and join in with the training opportunities. Although Puppy School has no formal system for international members at present, some overseas trainers have been through our puppy training system and remain affiliated to us.

These include:

Iceland - Freyja Kristinsdottir

Freyja got her veterinary degree in 2006 and moved to the UK in 2007 to work as a vet in Brighton. While living and working in the UK she decided to become a dog trainer, and started the Puppy School tutor programme. She became a Puppy School tutor in December 2009 and is now living in Iceland, introducing icelandic dog owners to reward based dog training without punishment.

Estonia - Marina Roos

Hi, my name is Marina, I`m a Puppy School tutor for small breeds in Estonia, Tallinn, in Koerus Puppyschool - http://www.koerus.ee. I`m also the President of Estonian Pekingese Club and I have a small home kennel, Terasroos, http://www.hot.ee/pekingese , with 7 pekingese.

Dogs are in my heart. They are a very important part of my everyday life, members of our family and I even could not imagine life without dogs, a home without a waggy tail.

I think it is very important to teach owners how to raise a happy puppy and how to prevent problems, and all that without punishment. I have attended many lectures and courses on dogs. In 2009, I had a great opportunity to meet and listen to Gwen Bailey in Estonia and the same year I entered  tutor courses in Puppyschool UK.

Tere, minu nimi on Marina, olen EKL poolt kinnitatud stažeeriv väikeste koertetreener.Juhendan Koeruse - http://www.koerus.ee seltsi ja kääbuskoerte kutsikakooli Tallinnas, olen ka Eesti Pekingi Koerte Klubi juhatuse esinaine.Koerad on mu südames.

Training for overseas tutors

If you are from outside the UK and are able to undertake our training programme (two weekend courses set approximately 4 weeks apart in either Spring or Autumn), please fill in an application form which you can access via the ‘Want to become a tutor?’ pages.

Although the training course is designed for puppy training in the united kingdom, and you will have to adapt the training to what is suitable for your own country, there should be enough useful information to make it worthwhile. We look forward to hearing from you.

Alternatively, Gwen Bailey is sometimes available to give the Puppy School Tutor Training course (6 days) in other countries if someone is available to do the organisation. Please write to info@puppyschool.co.uk

NB: It is important that you are able to understand and speak English well enough to follow the lessons as no interpreter is available.
